Sometimes I wonder, what this work is all about. I stop and reflect and ask myself ‘is this still useful?’
What I offer has always been about providing a service that will help people in one way or another. My journey has been such a gloriously colourful patchwork involving the most interesting, diverse and beautiful people who are all on a journey of healing and self discovery. From yoga with the prison birds to the lawyers, pregnant women, mums and babes, children’s yoga, teenagers with anxiety, rehabilitation, yoga in gyms and leisure centres, retreats and inner city community classes, yoga in the park, and lets not forget yoga in the pub! -at festivals, and gatherings, hen parties and yurt yoga days, yoga and harmony singing, and yoga for runners. Yoga on you-tube: my mum still loves those sessions. Its been an absolute honour working with every single one of you, and if you are one of those people reading this then thank you so much for being there! Us humans are more intimately connected then we realise!
Of course, as a sole parent raising three children there has always been the incentive of needing to provide for my family and in doing so, not burn myself out! so for the last 15 years, yoga has been that medicine that held all the parts of my life together and gave me a foundation and practice as well as the most beautiful supportive community of incredible people providing me with an income, and I am truly grateful.
My children are adults now and almost ready to embark on their own journeys, which leaves me wondering…what next? how can I be of service? What do I want to learn? Next year I will have reached half a century in age…and I am no longer a full time mum! I’m excited about the adventures yet to come.
So right now I’m in that process, of starting a new chapter…and who knows what could unfurl….
maybe some kind of activism. Watch this space.
