In yoga we practice ‘Ahimsa’ which is a sanskrit word meaning ‘non-violence’.

It is a principle of yoga which comes from the Hindu and Buddhist belief of refraining from harming any living being, including yourself.

There are many ways to interpret the true meaning of Ahimsa.

I like to interpret this principle as a metaphor for ‘non violence to self’ or, in simple terms

‘don’t do anything that doesn’t feel right to you’.

Listen to your body, because you know your body more then anyone else.

In my yoga classes, everything I offer is just an invitation.

You don’t have to do what I say.

Especially if you are working with injuries, please let me know and I can offer modifications or alternative postures to suit your needs.

There is nothing you have to do, and I will encourage you to work lovingly with your body.

Sickness

If you are feeling unwell, please do not come to class.

The best thing you can do for yourself at this time is rest.

If you have a cold or flu please do not attend a yoga class as other students may have compromised immune systems and we don’t want to pass illness on, where possible.

Thank you.
